Hello and welcome to my website regarding information on osteopathy within BC.

My name is Marc Jones and I am a British-trained registered osteopath that practised in Vancouver for an "eventful" year between 2004-2005 after the relative peace and quiet of a year in Montreal in 2003-2004. Currently I practise from my own clinic in Christchurch, England and am available for periodic consultancy work in BC on request.

I graduated as an osteopath, a medically-based practitioner in structural and functional disorders of the human body in London, England in 1995. In the UK, osteopaths like doctors and dentists are regulated by law.

How to get the best from this site

1. The main part of the site is basically the same format as it was from my time in 2004, namely, trying to provide information for those who want to know about osteopathy and the differences between osteopaths and osteopathic physician. It was originally written in such a way as to give accurate information while attempting to maintain a diplomatic balance. All you need do is follow the side-bar menu to the left to access the main site.

2. The second part to the site, (which is under prolonged construction below!), has been developed in response to the many queries I still receive about my experiences and observations of osteopathy within BC from when I received my first threatening email in 2004 (from an osteopathic physician in Victoria telling me "best not to pack your bags" and come to Vancouver!), through the time that I became one of the founding members of the Society for the Promotion of Manual Practice Osteopathy in BC (SPMPO), to my current status as an SPMPO director acting as a liaison to the General Osteopathic Council of the UK.
